Infreeda Rolls Out SMSConnect Directory Assistance

At the Ad:Tech Chicago conference earlier this week, Infreeda unveiled a new mobile advertising platform called SMSConnect. Infreeda provides ad-supported free directory assistance through 1-800-411-METRO, and with the new platform, marketers can send dynamic SMS promotions to mobile devices without a short code.

When consumers call the free directory, they will hear an advertiser’s promotional offer along with the option to press one to receive the SMS message before continuing onto their requested listing. This technique combines voice advertising promotion with a text message call-to-action to close the sale. With SMSConnect, Infreeda claims that an advertiser only pays for SMS distribution to consumers who express interest in the product or service, as it is based on a pay-for-performance model.

Mike Loftus, CEO of Infreeda, described in a statement, “SMS short code is fast becoming an integral part of the marketing mix.” He explains how advertisers have struggled with the significant investment in the absence of guaranteed ROI that traditional SMS campaigns with short codes require. Advertisers additionally must allocate a separate budget to promote the short code. “With SMSConnect, the campaign encompasses all these steps immediately without the short code,” Loftus adds.

Advertising agency Big Top Networks is the first to utilize SMSConnect, driving subscriptions to MobileSidewalk’s ringtone service. Big Top’s Sales Executive, John Nguyen, expressed excitement in Big Top’s integration of SMSConnect. “This channel will allow us to interact with potential customers in a way that is cost effective, non-intrusive and tailored specifically to their needs,” he noted. “The mix of audio and text messaging makes it more likely for the caller to engage with our campaign.”

By using SMSConnect, Infreeda boasts that companies offering everything from coupons to downloads and ringtones can target any demographic that calls 1-800-411-METRO.
