This fall, YouTube visitors may experience a different kind of video popping up on their favorite video-sharing site. NBC will be promoting its fall broadcast lineup on YouTube with clips promoting shows like “The Office.”

NBC will have an official “NBC Channel” on YouTube that will feature all its promotional content. Starting next year, NBC will also upload longer video clips and promos for prime time and late night shows like Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show. YouTube will be promoting NBC’s videos throughout the rest of its site.

“The YouTube and NBC partnership symbolizes what can happen when traditional media companies and new media companies find common ground,” said NBC’s CMO John Miller in a statement. “YouTube is the perfect online media partner to promote NBC’s marquee entertainment to their audience and explore new and creative ways to harness the power of viral video in a manner that respects copyrights.”

To go along with the launch of its YouTube channel, NBC has launched a contest promoting “The Office.” Users are encouraged to create their own 20-second videos promoting The Office and upload them to YouTube. The promotion runs through July 21st, and the winning clip will air on TV alongside “The Office” in August.
