Canadian television network CTV is putting some of its shows online in a move they’re calling The CTV Broadband Network, ‘Canada’s first multi-channel, on-demand broadband service.’ The online shows will be available through CTV.ca. Shows are divided into four channels: CTV shows, CTV News and Documentaries, etalk on Broadband, and Discovery Channel on CTV. CTV presented the new broadband channel yesterday at their Fall Upfront in Toronto. Each show contains 5-6 minutes of streaming ads shown throughout an episode.

Now playing on CTV Shows: Corner Gas, Degrassi: The Next Generation, and Canadian Idol. CTV News and Documentaries will include hourly updates and interviews from shows like CTV National News, Report on Business, Canada AM, Mike Duffy Live, and Question Period. CTV Broadband currently features popular CTV television episodes from last season, and they’ll be adding more once the fall season starts.

“Canadians are leaders in consuming media,” said CTV CEO Ivan Fecan in a statement, “and the CTV Broadband Network is part one of CTV’s answer to their appetite to tap programming on emerging platforms and to provide a solution to the advertisers who want to reach them.”
