Monster Bites on PWP
Monster, best known for their Monster.com online job search service, has purchased directory and educational website publisher PWP. PWP, which owns several thousand educational domain names and gets more than a million unique users per month. PWP will join Monster’s Internet Advertising and Fees division. Monster wants to use its existing clients and its advertising system to increase PWP’s presence in the educational arena.
“The combination of PWP with Monster’s FastWeb and learning products is expected to generate additional high-quality lead generation volume to our growing client base. We believe the acquisition is very timely given PWP’s development. Joining Monster will provide extra resources to accelerate growth and more fully monetize traffic with an expanding list of advertisers,” said Monster’s Internet Advertising and Fees SVP Mark Stoever in a statement.
PWP’s core business is connecting students with schools, and generates more than a hundred thousand referrals per month. Last year, they earned more than $5 million through their network of directories, which includes niche-specific directories like ArtSchools.com, BusinessSchools.com and CookingSchools.com. They’ll join Monster’s other educational properties like FastWeb and Monsterlearning.
