Google and Japanese mobile phone operator KDDI Corp announced yesterday that they will partner to offer a search engine service with Google technology for KDDI’s cellular phone service. The service will begin in July when consumers who subscribe to KDDI’s EZweb handset-based Internet access service will be able to use Google’s search engine.

The partnership between Google and KDDI is Google’s first deal with a mobile phone company in Japan, but Google is looking to expand its mobile web presence in China through deals with other cellular providers in the near future.

Google has already inked similar deals with European mobile providers.
