Travelzoo Propels Subscriber into Space
Travelzoo, an online media company that publishes travel deals and offers from over 500 travel advertisers has decided to launch their 10 millionth subscriber into outer space. Travelzoo CEO Ralph Bartel presented subscriber Matthew Wagner with a ticket into suborbital space courtesy of Space Adventures.
Wagner signed up for Travelzoo’s weekly U.S. Top 20 email newsletter, and has already undergone a zero-gravity preparation flight. “My dad is a big fan of Travelzoo’s Top 20 and he recommended that I sign up for it. I had no idea that I’d get a once in a lifetime opportunity like this. I can’t believe it!” said Wagner in a statement. “The zero gravity flight was a great way to prepare for my space trip and I am so excited about being on a suborbital flight.” Wagner will launch in 2008, experience weightlessness, and look down on the Earth from an altitude of about 62 miles.
As of April 6th, Travelzoo’s reached more than 10 million unique subscribers of its U.S. Top 20, U.K. Top 20, and Newsflash email alert newsletters. “We are very proud of achieving this milestone for our publications,” said Bartel in a statement, “Space is the next travel frontier and we wanted to provide our subscriber with the newest form of travel.”
