Find a Flight with Yahoo! FareChase
Yahoo has just launched their new comparison travel search engine, FareChase. FareChase searches multiple travel sites and presents users with travel results sorted by lowest price and travel dates. Yahoo! believes that FareChase will reduce the need for consumers to waste time perusing multiple travel sites. Once a user finds a travel deal they like, they can go directly to the travel provider’s web site to book it.
FareChase is integrated with Yahoo’s existing travel search engine, Yahoo Travel. Searching for a destination via Yahoo Travel gives you an option to search for flights to that destination through Yahoo FareChase. “This is the first time a search engine for travel pricing and a search engine for travel experiences have come together in a single product,” said Jasper Malcolmson, director of Yahoo Travel in a statement. “The new Yahoo! FareChase will help people plan better trips with access to the most relevant real-time information.”
Yahoo FareChase is also integrated with Yahoo’s web search. A person searching for flight information will see the lowest FareChase rate right below the sponsored results box. In addition to standard travel fare results, FareChase also presents sponsored travel deals and sponsored travel search results.
Yahoo has also released a FareChase widget that users can add to their desktop using the Yahoo! Widget Engine, and a FareChase search box that publishers can add to their website.

Just a correction for Mr. Malcolmson; FareChase is NOT the first nor only web site to offer travel searches across several sites and engines. PowerSearch by WorldVentures beat him to it.

It will be interesting to see how this tool playes out with some of the current travel search incumbants. One company that seems to have done well in this area is Travelzoo. They are known for their Top 20 travel deals but they also have found success with the SuperSearch tool. This tool incorporates user feedback into their rankings.
