The Interactive Job Market: Who’s Hiring, What They’re Looking for and How You Can Succeed

1) What do you look for in hiring an employee at your company, and what do you recommend that job applicants of any interactive media company do?
I look for people who have proven success wherever they came from previously, a desire to learn coupled with the ability to offer new innovative ways of making this business work. My recommendation to anyone is to be persistent and balance assertiveness with aggressiveness in pursuing your next opportunity.
2) What is the most difficult position you are having trouble filling and why?
Sales!!! The marketplace lost a lot of the mediocre salespeople during the downturn and the good ones are either demanding astronomical compensation packages or are staying where they are.
3) Given that our medium has been built by a younger generation and at times by people from other parts of the world, does age or cultural background have any bearing on your hires? (this with the understanding that most companies are EOE).
No, diversity is to be embraced.
4) What skill set do you find most applicants lack?
(a brain).. kidding… seriously, I’d say stability. Everyone has had several jobs at different companies, some have only been out of college a few years and have had 4-5 jobs already.
