MSN Spaces Travels to UK
MSN.co.uk, the UK’s number one website, announced today that it has signed a 3-month deal with the British media company 3 to create the first branded MSN Space in the UK. The service launches this week and will offer 3’s SeeMeTV, the UK’s first mobile TV channel to show and purchase content created by customers, to MSN spaces through the joint promotion. MSN Spaces is MSN’s online blogging tool where users can share ideas, photos, music lists, and now through the exclusive deal with 3 and MSN, video clips taken with their 3 video mobiles.
Graeme Oxby, Marketing Director for 3, said in a statement, “This original and innovative campaign strengthens 3’s reputation as a pioneering, creative company. It enhances the relationship we have built with MSN over the past twelve months and highlights features of our unique SeeMeTV channel in a relevant way. This is another UK first for MSN and 3, and further evidence that the worlds of mobile, media and communications are rapidly converging.”
The agreement between MSN and 3 will allow users to submit short videos taken on their digital cameras or video mobiles to an email address. The ten best video clips will be posted daily on the 3 MSN Space where other users can post blogs and vote for favorite clips. At the end of each week, a £100 prize will be awarded to the video that receives the most votes, and the overall winner will receive an £1,000 prize. The deal between MSN and 3 further builds on their existing relationship where 3 sponsored the MSN Messenger theme pack last year.
