ISC Blacklists Spam Providers

The Internet Society of China (ISC) has published a blacklist of 296 IP addresses that have been found spending spam to unsuspecting consumers. Once these IP addresses are documented as continuing to send spam, ISC’s members, which include more than 100 websites in China, will take action to block the offending IP addresses.

ISC received 2080 reports of spam via phone, 23,709 reports via email, and 1,680 through webpage submission, between February 21 and March 20, 2006. 78% of these complaints referred to unauthorized advertisements and 11% of the complaints were related to spam email with pornographic material.

According to its website, ISC’s mission is to promoted healthy development and growth of the Internet in China and to bring China into the worldwide Internet community.
