What they do: Rated one of the web’s top movie destinations by Nielsen//Net Ratings, users can read movie reviews, view trailers, select a film, plan where to see it, and purchase movie tickets up to 45 days in advance all on one website. VP of Sales & Advertising Dan Mohler credits Fandango’s success to their “ability to reach target consumers through the movies they love.” Fandango sells tickets to 13,000 big screens and 1,150 theaters, and to four out of the five largest U.S. theater circuits. The site also sells tickets to sporting events, music concerts, and the theater.

Who should buy: Fandango’s audience is extremely loyal, affluent, and action-oriented. Most of them have an established relationship with the site and are interested in the entertainment possibilities Fandango’s advertisers have to offer. If you are promoting a film, this is the number one site to attract an intelligent and active movie-going audience.

Fandango draws monthly pages views of 86.9 million and 3.9 million monthly unique users. 57% of site visitors are male while 43% are female. All users are age 18 or older, 45% are 18-34, and 77% are 25-77. 69% of consumers have a household income of $50,000 or more, and 46% have a household income of $75,000 or more.

Format/how much: Fandango provides on-site, newsletter, email, and special promotion advertising options. Marketers can place ads on Fandango’s homepage, which is the hub for current movie information. Ad sizes include 728×90 banner, 300×250 (Studios Only), 190×64 (static), 190×92 (static), 250×250 pop up, 720×300 pop under, and floating ads. Technology providers include Eyeblaster, Unicast, InterPoll, PointRoll, and Motif.

Each movie’s dedicated landing page is also available for ads. All homepage ad sizes listed above are available as well as 160×600 skyscrapers, 280×46 ads, and text boxes. Fandango can also develop customized online promotions such as sweepstakes, private-label games, and seasonal content (i.e. Holiday Movie Guide).

Fandango can also target advertising to specific movie content that is relevant to a product; geo-targeting, time of day targeting, ad sequencing, and frequency are also available. Advertisers can also receive highly targeted results by signing on as an exclusive sponsor of Fandango’s HTML newsletter. Exclusive email drops are also available for movie studio producers in both text and HTML formats.

Placing a 10- second audio ad that runs immediately after the welcome message on 1-800-FANDANGO can also give advertisers a boost, and Fandango’s FREE movie ticket promotions are a great way to promote, trial, or reward employees, customers, or partners; they are distributed via email and redeemed online.
