180Solutions Cleans House?

APRIL FOOLS
ADOTAS has learned that adware company 180Solutions has cleaned out its Bellevue, MA headquarters and a source close to the company tells us its other offices are to follow. The company, which as of late has lost clients like AzoogleAds and has been under fire with a formal complaint by the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT), has, according to the source, left their offices completely empty save a maid service which the company apparently hired to “clean up their act”.
In speaking with 180Solutions executives regarding this quiet exit, one exec (who wished to remain nameless) assured us that this was in fact “just a clever guerilla PR tactic”. “Given that our last PR push to prove ourselves clean to the industry didn’t quite do the trick, we thought ‘hey, wouldn’t it really drive home our commitment to our consumers to be clear about our opt-in only policy if we literally cleaned house?’” he said. “So, we got the whole staff in on it, told them to pack it all up and we hired a maid service to really push the envelope.”
One Harvard student who has been following the company and its constant efforts to clear adware’s bad name tells us this: “I’ve been following 180’s questionable practices for some time now and I have never seen anything like this before,” he says. “I think they’ve really don’t a great job of making their good intentions known and I think we could all learn something from this creative approach.”
No employees could be reached for comment as the phones were also turned of on account of this “PR tactic”. The company’s site was also down as of press time.
