Microsoft Uses Job Contest to Reach College Market

Microsoft is hoping to reach out to its next generation of users by extending its relationship with Experience, Inc. Announced today, the joint Exclusive Experiences program will offer a contest for college students and recent college graduates who want to earn an exciting job shadowing opportunity in website development, gaming or security. To enter, candidates simply download Microsoft Visual Web Developer Express Edition, complete an online application, and use the web design software to demonstrate why they are the most promising techie for the job.

This is Microsoft’s second foray with Experience, coming off the pair’s 2005 interactive marketing campaign for Beta University, which offered a similar contest that utilized Microsoft’s Visual Web Developer Express 2005 Beta Edition. The program proved to be a successful interactive marketing campaign and a particularly good deal for one exceptional college student who won an internship and a paid trip to New Zealand to design the website for the New Zealand Snowboard Training Group.

“Experience developed and drove a high-impact interactive marketing program for our Visual Web Developer Beta last year, handling creative development through implementation,” said Cristina Telleria, Microsoft Academic Developer Marketing. “Based on the program’s demonstrated success and Experience’s exceptional reach into the college market, we are excited to broaden our advertising relationship with Experience to offer more Exclusive Experiences in 2006.”
