Pay-Per Call Provider Jambo Consolidates
Pay-per-call provider Jambo has consolidated its group of search engines, portals, and directories into a single unit called the Jambo Advertising Network (JAN). Jambo specializes in providing local businesses access to the Internet through pay-per-call advertising. Jambo displays pay-per-call ads and phone numbers through online search engines, web directories, and print publications. A customer who calls the number gets routed through Jambo’s telecom system and then connected directly to the advertiser. Advertisers simply pay for each call they receive, without the need of a web site.
With JAN, Jambo hopes to provide better service to both customers and clients by including more information along with directory listings. JAN will also keep track of both answered calls and unanswered calls to ensure that customers aren’t routed to numbers that are disconnected or sales people who simply don’t answer the phone. “Consumers expect — and deserve — to find updated, relevant information online, says Jambo CEO John Melideo in a statement. “If a consumer calls a phone number to contact a business, and either that call doesn’t go through or that merchant never answers, that consumer will go elsewhere for information. We designed JAN to increase the possibility that consumers will find the right merchant with their call,”.
The face of the network will be the cartoon mascot JAN, who will appear on Jambo ads and announce to clients that they are receiving a call through Jambo.
