CBS Eyes Cross-Promotional Micro-Series


Attempting to break out of the normal 30-second spot, CBS will debut a new “micro” video serial during the first “CSI: Miami” commercial break on Jan 24th (next Tuesday). The first episode of the mini-drama will be only 60 seconds long, and each episode after will last only 40 seconds thereafter. The series, dubbed “The Courier,” will run each day – with a brief break at the end of January – for seven episodes through Feb. 1st, ending its run during “Criminal Minds.”

Cozying up alongside hit prime-time thrillers like “CSI: Miami”, “Criminal Minds”, and “Cold Case”, “The Courier” will star BASE jumper Iiro Seppanen, and will feature “death-defying” stunts, according to CBS, as it chronicles a man’s quest to rescue his kidnapped wife. The “micro” show will also be viewable online at, where each episode will appear after they have been aired, and will be complemented with an interactive storyline, additional clues, and a contest by the show’s sponsor, Pontiac. Each of the episodes will be followed by an ad for Pontiac, and three of them will also “star” a new Pontiac Torrent. Episodes will also be available through Verizon’s V Cast service.
